Sassy Colombian

A few weeks ago I saw a picture of American actress Drew Barrymore walking barefooted around New York City and it made me wonder if this a practice that other people from western countries follow? Growing up in Colombia, the only people one sees walking around the city without shoes are indigents, people with so very little resources that can't afford a pair of shoes. But here in the US, I have seen people, specially white affluent Individuals that like to walk barefooted around the city. I also like the practice if I'm outside my yard, or walking barefooted at the beach or a nice meadow but there is no freaking way that I would walk the streets of NY city or any city without a pair of shoes. How do you feel about such practice? Are you one of those people that like to walk barefooted around your city? And if so what's the satisfaction or reasoning behind it?
