Still worth it for 2.50 a week. Then you can get TX to look after your ill-gotten gains in the Caymans and drink daiquiris with Robert Earl and Amanda Holden*

I like the way you think.

As for pensions. My company doesn't have one and more and more US based companies are not offering them due to the costs/liabilities.

I do contribute to my 401k plan regularly and the company matches my contributions up to a certain amount.

As for saving, I encourage everyone to save something. The hardest part of saving is starting, but once you start, it becomes easy to do. In addition, the power of compounding can really make a difference.

Saving for retirement is a big deal and I advise that people don't take that lightly. I don't believe my generation will be able to rely on Social Security or at least what it is in it's current form. So saving is even more important for those of us in our 40's and younger.

i have a pension(medical) and wont take another one as i was really shafted on the one i was in, the pensions, as everything connected to the financial sector, was always over optimistic in what you would get to what you paid. there needs to be a realistic approach to this subject and soon, i intend to save, if i can afford it , but would not trust any pension scheme again.

I have one. The last time I looked, I hadn't contributed much, and it told me I still had 36 years or something to work

I have a company pension, I pay some, they pay some .. It was final salary until the company decided last year they couldn't afford it and shafting us was the preferred option, so its now something else. I'm not sure what as when I look into further detail I start to slip into a coma
