Hmmmm not sure. I reckon he just stood out more at the time. Better players than him now you'd not even consider in the top 5 in the world.

It's an interesting debate, but if Pele were in his prime now he would still eclipse the likes of Messi and Ronaldo - maybe not in terms of the number of goals, but in his all-round play certainly... in my opinion.

Never seen anywhere near enough footage of him to be able to grade him against others, but you don't become internationally renowned for being the greatest player ever, and keep that moniker 50-odd years later, without there being some truth to it.

You are of course welcome to said opinion. Just think you could make a case for Neymar, Ibrahimovic, Suarez and their ilk being better than him and doing it against better defenders as well.

for some reason i think pele gets remembered as simply a goalscorer

by all accounts he was a fantastic all round footballer. the type to shoot from his own half. a real magician.

Yep, it's my opinion, but Neymar, Zlatan and Suarez are not in the same league as Pele, and he played against much tougher defenders in his hey-day, and largely ran rings around them. Those three are all great players as are Messi and Ronaldo, but I'd still put Pele above them... and above Maradona too.

see for the pele debate, take aguero, a pale of the player that messi is yet what aguero does in his own game makes him a top striker as well. Jusr because Pele didnt do fancy tricks you cant argue the stats.

On topic, i hope he makes a full recovery.
