Today, Dec 7th, marks the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Naval History & Heritage Center has produced a very cool interactive timeline of the attack:

Wow, two and a half years after Britain entered WWII! For some reason I thought it happened earlier than that.

No mate. For all of chamberlains critics, that white piece of paper was brilliant leadership. In the time it took us to enter the war we had built up our army and developed our radar system which saved us from the bombings. Credit where credit is due, chamberlain buying us time was the difference between Germany rolling over us and us having a stand to fight back, remember France had already fell at this point
 

it's amazing that Japan somehow failed to take out the fuel reserves. it would have added years to the war.
