Ridiculous title of what looks to be a fairly decent TV series .

As usual with the onset of September, the TV companies start rolling out new series to replace the endless repeats they've dished up all summer and this one has caught my eye

Apparently it's follows a gang or bunch organised crime types,in Birmingham at the end of WWI, the gang being called The Peaky Blinders, still should have called the series something else though.

It's tipped to be a British Boardwalk Empire, which is a bold claim to make

Looks worthy of a viewing particularly if you like Mobster/Gangster type stuff .

Anyone seen the trailers, going to give it a go ?

Can't hear that vid as i am in work, but saw an ad with a ropey Belfast accent think its this, hopefully its good, Cillian Murphy is pretty good.

Gonna try and watch this I think. Always remember Cillian Murphy from 28 days later and he was good in that.

Although the name sounds like something Redknapp would come out with on transfer deadline day to describe a couple of bargain players he'd got.

Series 1 was good, once you get past the dodgy accents and the stylised pretenddy post WWI Industrial birmingham back drop
Series 2 starts in Foxtel Oz 16/10/14

was gonna ask if this was any good.

on the accents though, lets not kid ourselves that regional accents have always been the same, if any of you think that the Liverpool Accent was the same 100 years ago as it is now then you are very sadly mistaken, in fact it was more like my accent than the 1 currently spoken by lids in the city.

that will also be true of city's up and down the land.

anyway, any good or not ?

I really enjoyed the 1st series, not started watching the 2nd yet, will let a few episode build up before I start, worth the watch though, takes a couple of episodes before you connect with the characters

Good.

but,

While your accent point has more than a tinge of validity... the main moan is about the poor attempts by the actors, but then not many can do the 'harder' regional accents and in some cases the director and actors seemed to just not bother.
Sam Neill does a decent attempt at an Ulster-ish accent
