Yer ma's favorite ITK. Mmmmmm Juicy.
So two weeks ago i sold a digital item on Ebay (Fifa coins).

I have now had a hold on the received funds on my paypal account due to the buyer saying their account was compromised and the transaction is now under review.

I phoned Paypal to try and resolve the issue only to be told there is no protection for a seller whilst selling intangible items, so looks like i'm out of pocket (not a great sum - £80) but enough for me to be massively annoyed.

Does anyone have any advice on steps i can take?

Need proof of it mate other wise you are stuffed.

One of the arsey tricks I see with buying and selling vape stuff is the PayPal dispute which ends up refunding money after behave received it. Perhaps this deal is along the same lines?

Seen some outside B&Q in Chester... fat security guard too so you should get away easily.

Seem's to be similar, still think there should be something in place to stop this though. I spoke to a mate about it and he said should have sold something tangible with the coins being free with that item, then they couldn't dispute it.

Does selling the vape stuff not protect you as they can physically hold the item though?

Possibly sounds like a scam as @Ashtonian says. What sort of feedback does the buyer have ?

If they have virtually no feedback and are new buyers, I,d suspect a " blitz " type scam, where they buy loads over a few days, claim their account has been hacked and then leg it with the gear.

Nah it's an account with 70 feedback, 90% positive though so not the best, should have recorded myself sending the item over my fault i suppose.

Only on the scenarios where you can physically prove it was posted and delivered otherwise pay pal can and normally side with the wrong person. if you can prove the points were sold with some online transaction then it puts you in better stead to get the money.

PayPal are useless mate. They put this big spin on how safe everything is. The reality would appear to be different though, as they don't really appear to be interested. I've never had any problems, but my missus has with a double charging scam and PayPal were crap.

It may get sorted, but it'll take ages .

As i said above i should have filmed the transaction via screen capture. Thanks for the input though mate.

First time in over 6 years i'v had a problem, i'll still use them just for buying though i think.

You can protect yourself by stating in your ads that bidders must have over a certain percentage of feedback and also must've been an eBay member for a certain period of time . That usually stops the hit and run scammers .
