i still think he's a good manager, maybe a bit too stubborn though. i mean it is very laughable that they can't buy a goal for a few years now whilst he's freezing out darren bent, who goes out on loan and scores for fun again.

i don't think there's really any managers out there who villa could attract who could do a good job without getting any real funds. he has made some weird sales though.

will be interesting to see how he fares in his next job.

He's a decent manager, in fact if say he was the manager of City they'd probably be exactly where they are now. They gave him 0 transfer budget in the offseason. Good for him for parlaying a few decent results in the 1st month of the season while everybody was suffering a WC hangover and taking Lerner's money.

"You called for me sir?"

I thought he'd do a good job at Villa, shows what i know!

But he did a "phenomenol" job at Norwich really. They were an absolute shambles when he took over but pretty much straight away he sorted them out, got them promoted to the Championship, then to the PL and then had them in a decent mid table position in successive seasons.

But it hasn't hapened for him at Villa despite having time and enough money to have been able to have them doing far better than they are now.

He didn't half buy a load of crap though at times.

Maybe he's got a bit of Neil Warnock about him, will do well in the lower leagues but once he gets into the prem he won't be able to advance further.

Possibly yeah.

Plus after talking to a few Norwich fans lately they all said that Ian Culverhouse was the real reason behind the success.

He followed him to Villa but got sacked last season. When Villa were rubbish too but not quite relegation zone bad i don't think.
