I doubt that many of you are familiar with this area of the country, basically its a dump, but for some reason Paramount have decided it will be the perfect place for a new theme park to rival disney.

Seeing as I don't think I'll still be living around here in 6 years time I have mixed feelings about it.

Thoughts?
Does it seem pointless? Good idea?
Is it really somewhere you'd wanna take your kids though?

Obviously the local area doesn't help but if I'm going to the theme park, that's it, nothing else so it doesn't really matter for me. I have never been in the surrounding area of Alton Towers, for instance and I've been there like 5 times over the years.

Very true mate. Can't imagine the area where Euro Disney is was that great before Disney was there and its probably the same distance outside the outskirts of Paris as this is from London (about half an hour)

Come and live near me mate.... they are currently in talks to destroy a lovely Nature reserve to turn it into a caravan park which will house the influx of foreign workers who are gonna build a new nuclear power station a mere 10 miles away.....oh, also Stena who own the harbour area and seafront are in talks with a company to reclaim land from the sea and lose half of a fantastic victorian promenade and beach to build a huge hotel for the rich yuppie yachts people who come here for approx 2 months a year.

Can't really complain about getting a theme park then haha

Wait, it is a theme park or an 'entertainment complex' because the latter won't work as well at all, imo.

I JUST WANT A BIG THEME PARK WITH BIG ROLLER COASTERS FFS.

£2b US/Hollywood major film company theme park will kick the arse of Alton towers and whatever else there is in the way of tacky UK theme parks, see Universal and Disney in Florida.

You'd hope so, I still remain skeptical

This is exactly what I was thinking. Talks about cinemas and restaurants and on the plan there arnt any rollercoasters but still calls it a theme park? Unless this is more jarg American incorrect terminology and they call leisure centre's themeparks... Wouldn't put it past them.
