The best coach I ever played for was an ex palace player from the fifties or sixties named John Edwardson..... He played locally until he was 53 and still stood out.... Lovely man who I still see everyday.
Hard to believe but we finished third in 1990/91 behind Arse and the RS. Decent side generally; Nigel Martyn, John Humphrey, Andy Thorn, Eric Young, Richard Shaw, Eddie McGoldrick, Geoff Thomas, Andy Gray, John Salako, Mark Bright, Ian Wright. Stevie Coppell in the dug out. Great times.
Geoff Thomas was fantastic for a couple of seasons too... Great team to watch.
Right, off up north in 20 minutes. COME ON PALACE.....shyte deez.
Report from the Reichstag; Watched the second half of your game on the concourse. General outrage and disbelief at the "penalty" call and genuine groans when Howard did everything but save it. A bout of "Everton, Everton, Everton" followed but I think mainly to annoy the RS stewards, staff etc.
Another new line up and another new formation for us didn't bode well. I must admit looking at their attacking line up made me think we wouldn't get away with a clean sheet. I am very sorry to say that the Suarez/Sturridge combo just looked too good. It did for us after a reasonable start. They got their regulation pen and that was it really.
Their support was shockingly poor. We really couldn't get them to respond but they finally bit at ; "First trip to Anfield, Is this your first trip to Anfield?"
We had a bit of keep ball at one time and giving it the "hooray, hooray" every time we made a pass and kept the ball and followed it up with a "We're Crystal Palace, We're taking the piss." I don't think they do irony.
Anyways, more a snatch at the groin than the actual bumming predicted so onwards and....err......well we're still not bottom.
