So apparently, he'll be serving his sentence over here in the US, once complete, he'll then be deported back to the UK.

I read about this earlier and again, I'm just dumbfounded by what I'm hearing! This guy wanted to kidnap, torture then eat a child?! Apparently he was in cohorts with some other dumbass from Kansas who apparently had previous on planning the abduction of kids...

If I came across him, I'd have a few things to say.

I'm aware of stooping to their level, but quite frankly people like that with that level of pure evil, should not be allowed to walk the same earth as my family. I'd want them nowhere near us and whatever that took to happen is what it is.

I'm not talking about this case obviously and I'm sure the woman is knowledgable than I am but there are some figures in the US in particular that don't support her there mate.

Again im not talking about murder but across the board of these 'type of offences' .There was a Canadian Program called VISA (or something similar ) that was incredibly succesful but was scrapped for financial reasons . I'd happily lock every similar offender in nick forever but clearly that won't happen so if you aren't going to do that I think you have to look at trying to rehabilitate however distasteful that is.

Overall, research has found that sexual recidivism for all sex offenders is quite low, with rates of only 10% to 15% five years after release. Also, research has found that sex offenders can be categorized into three groups that have different recidivism rates and, thereby, require different treatments. These groups are incest child molesters who victimize related children, rapists who victimize adult women and non-incest child molesters who victimize unrelated children.
Incest child molesters were found to sexually recidivate at the lowest rate at 8.4%. Since this rate was so low, it has traditionally been believed that, comparatively, incest child molesters require minimally intrusive forms of therapy. An example of such a minimally intrusive program is the Violence Interdite Sur Autrui (VISA) Program delivered by the Correctional Service of Canada, that encourages incest child molesters to take six steps that reduce recidivism. The 14 week program consists of 28 psychotherapy group meetings, 13 sex education work shops and 10 individual interviews. VISA has shown great success in reducing recidivism and *,as of 1996 , only two of over *130 of its participants were reconvicted for a further sexual offence

I'm not familiar with the programme, but seeing as paedophiles can groom over a period of years, I'd be skeptical of long term rehabilitation. I'd also question if they're only dealing with incest cases if their convictions simply took away their access to potential victims

I'm normally one of those fluffy libertarians who see the good in everyone, but this sort of crime simply chills me to the bone. I don't have kids, but if I did this would be tip of my post of fears. It scares the living hell out of me and I'd just rather there were zero risk of re offending, hence I'd simply remove them from society.

The school I went to had a teacher who was a serial offender. His acts were covered up by prominent people in the welsh education system, and welsh media. Thankfully I couldn't sing or act, but for the kids who could he destroyed many of their childhoods. The report that eosed him is now used as the governing report for all Welsh schools.

My cousin fosters abuse victims, I won't go on any further.

Needless to say, for me once instance of re offending is too much. When you commit this kind of crime, I think you forego your rights to be a part of society anymore. It's simply too evil a crime in my eyes.
