Hi all,

Unfortunately, I'm a southerner. However, that doesn't make me any less of a blue! My mum's side of the family is from Merseyside and are all disgracefully kopites...I never liked any of them anyway! Dad's side of the family is from south London and support Palace through and through. Growing up, Palace were shocking and they had one player who I idolised as a kid, the bald legend that is Andy Johnson. When I was around 8 years old, he moved to Everton and I started keeping an eye out on him at Everton to the disgust of my family.

It wasn't until I went up to Merseyside to see my mum's incredibly annoying, Liverpool-supporting family that season that I properly pledged my allegiance to this club. Everton won 3-0 at home and my main man Andy Johnson scored a brace including the funniest goal in derby history (let's not talk about Origi...). After that day, 8 year old Ben's blood turned royal blue!

I, unfortunately, didn't attend many games at Goodison growing up and instead secretly attended games in the home sections of stadiums such as Selhurst Park, Madejski, White Hart Lane, Craven Cottage and the Emirates with an Everton shirt on. This was due to being young and broke, as well as having few fellow blues in my hometown of Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

11 years of this passed and it came to the point in my life where I was wanting to go to university. I applied for 5 universities, all in the north so that I could get away from my [Poor language removed] town and be closer to Goodison. I ended up going to Manchester and am now in my third year. Pretty much all of my student loan in these three years has been spent on Everton tickets and I'm proud of that fact (despite living off baked beans)! It's safe to say that it's been the best 3 years of my life and despite all the ups and downs, I [Poor language removed] adore this club!

Ben.

Abingdon is a very nice town with a lot of boring ale pubs and 1 half decent one. The reason is most of the town pubs were owned by the local brewery Morlands - which was good - very good - until the verminous Greene King bought them all up and moved the brewing to their puke factory turning into bland nothingness. Consequently its hard to find a good punt there.

I know the town well having passed through it many times on my boat. Said to be the oldest known settlement in britain if you believe them.

Can quite see that theres nothing there for a young lad though.

Enjoy being here and post loads. If you need any advice on sexual deviance then @Bungle Is your man.

Oxford itself is crap but Abingdon where he's from is nice, I got stuck behind about 500 motorbikes as I drove through there last week as they were all out in support of the police officer that got killed recently.

Pointless fact for you.

Welcome Ben, I admire the 100% post/warning ratio.
As much as hate Abingdon, it will always have a place in my heart!

I didn't realise how strict they would be on language!

Thanks for the message!

Ben, just to let you know that unfortunately a lifetime of teaching has ground @chrismpw down.
Please don’t this experience put you off posting.
