Me again, ladies and germs.
90% of our office is on annual leave this week so it is practically dead, hence why i've had the time to create 121 threads in time it takes a toddler to say Diniyar Bilyaletindov.
Again, simple instructions, what and why??
I'll start:
The Dark Knight: Now, don't get me wrong, this was a decent enough film, a solid 6/10 or a 3 star out of 5 job.
We are all aware that the hype of this movie increased by 4 billion % because of gay icon Heath Ledger kicking the bucket, his portrayal of the Joker has gone on top the "greatest performances of all time" lists that would have Marlon Brando spinning in his heavily weighed down grave.
Ledger was good, Gary Oldman for me played the better character (Ledger only worked on the surface for me, whereas Oldman had the entire bit down) but where this film falls is on the horrible sticky American moral set pieces.
What's up with the bomb on the boat scene? Why on earth could I possibly care whether or not it's "right" to blow up a boat full of prisoners? the film was doing okay before this schlock had to be thrown in.
There's an earlier scene too where Ledger burns a shed load of money which I think meant to portray materialism in modern society? ARSED, I want to see Batman punch Michael Caine right in his fcuking mushky.
Nolan's idea was to bring out the dark, gothic elements that were always there in Batman (besides the Batusi), something he nailed in Batman Begins. Why then did he have to include something straight off the Hallmark channel slap bang in the middle of an already overlong film? This country.
