Clubs have quotas to meet, there's a premium on those with some quality. I don't really understand the stupid prices though. If Luke Shaw's name was Lukio Shawio from Spain, there's no way he'd cost 27 mil.

Not so much who but what -- the fact PL teams have to have a certain number of "home-grown" players on their squad. That puts a premium on decent players who fall into that category and automatically inflates their price.

they really ought to get rid of the home-grown rule. it just ensures talented english players sit on the bench at rich clubs rather than starting for lower table ones.
