It seems to me that many people obsess with the so-called weak links... constantly we hear how Baines hasn't had a stellar year, Ossie isn't good enough, Pienaar is finished, Mirallas isn't giving 100%, Naismith shouldn't be in the team, Lukaku couldn't trap a bag of cement.. but it really should be about the overall contribution to the team. It find it hard to criticise a team that only really deserved to lose 3 or 4 of the 38 league games and a manager who, somehow or other put together a credible challenge for 4th place with a run of successive wins and basically only 14 first team players (includimg a novice in John Stones) fit for selection.
So - if there is a point to this rant is is this - be grateful that the excellence of so many players last season allows you to feel slightly disappointed with the handful of players who couldn't match the outstanding contributions of the likes of James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, John Stones and Gareth Barry in particular.
