Absolutely love hiking and camping. I did a lot of backpacking/backwoods camping in the Ozarks back in the day. Have to admit, prefer a few amenities as I get on in years :(

I know what this feels like; not a backpacker myself, but a weekend trip to Hot Springs with walking/hiking by day and Embassy Suites by night is my kind of trip...

Used to do quite a bit of running myself, but not sure that counts as "outdoors"

I'm planning to go up to Shenandoah in a few weeks and tramp around the Loft Mountain area.

Came into camping/hiking late, as in very recently, late 20's. Been connected to devices my whole life, and just really enjoy getting away and my phone not buzzing or being able to be on call. And there are some really stunning places out there. Photos just aren't the same.

I miss it here in Eastern NC. Spent a lot of time in the Buffalo River/National Forest as it was only about 45 min away. Wish I could get out to the Appalachians, but everyone here is beach/ocean oriented. As a ginger beaches are anti-fun. Much prefer the woods and shade.

Shenandoah would be outstanding

Haha. I still like to pitch a tent or sleep under the stars, but showers and bathroom facilities bit higher on my list than in my 20's

Shenandoah and GW Nat'l Forest are really nice for hiking but take some caution in the busier trails of Shenandoah as there are quite a few black bears near the campgrounds. My favorite is hiking- there are some really nice trails within an hour or two. Kayaking is great but I haven't been again since my honeymoon about seven years ago in Nova Scotia. My wife and I were paddling along and out of the blue I flipped over (still no clue what happened). As I clutched onto kayak, I looked over and saw my new bride laughing. Kind of reconfirmed that we were a great fit.
Ended up being rescued by some crusty, drunk Nova Scotia fishermen.

Personally love the outdoor life. Done many various activities over the years but the mountains are still my first love - climbing and skiing, albeit @mrs the esk climbs and skis at a level I can only dream of...

Had a jet ski and a motorcross bike if that counts, got bored with them after about a week. Might have a go at mountain biking on trails next, just hard finding the spare time
