Jack Rodwell will never be a centre back. Ever.

He's useless in the air, he's nowhere near aggressive enough and he's not strong enough.

Centre back is a position for big presences e.g. Vidic, Terry, Heitinga etc. and Rodwell is about as passive as a footballer could ever be.

Even as a non-scouse I understand this. To be fair the last time he channelled some of that Kirkdale spirit the ref sent him off.

I used to work in a bookies' in Kirkdale, but that was the London version...proper rough. I once had to call the police to escort me to a taxi after closing time as one pissed-off punter was waiting outside for me with a bat.
