our main rivals next season

what is our realistic expectation next season?

  • Champions...if Leicester can do it, ffs

  • top 4...Champs League qualification

  • top 6...we're off on another European adventure

  • top 8. Those rivals are probably too strong...for now

  • bottom-half. We signed the wrong manager. Everton that.

  • expectation on toast, i'm just gonna enjoy the ride

I reckon next season will be the very opposite to this one: the big clubs are regrouping and we might see the strongest field since the late-00's when Prem clubs were dominating the Champs League.

Unless we get José, it's fair to say our aim and realistic expectation for next season will be a return to the top 6 and Europa-qualification. We also don't know how much (if any) extra monies Mosh will contribute to transfers this season.

Even top 6 will be very challenging next season...look at our rivals:

Leicester/Ranieri = current champions, ahead by 10 points (!) with one game to go...are genuinely very good and may surprise us further by being very good next season too.

Spurs/Poch = strongest Spurs side in living memory, and backed up by healthy funds. They'll be aiming for the title next season.

Arsenal/Wenger = never seem to miss out on top 4...everpresent.

Man City/Guardiola = the world's best coach with one of the world's richest clubs...bound to be top 4.

Man Utd/? = the most successful club in history looking to return to dominance, they'll probably spend big in the summer too. If they get Jose top 4 is nailed on.

Chelsea/Conte = a massive point to prove after a disappointing season. Exciting new manager and still backed by heavy funds.

Liverpool/Klopp = as much as we don't wanna admit it: Klopp is a gamechanger for them. He knocked Bayern off their perch and is settled now. Plus they've got funds to burn.

Everton/? = that's 7 rivals there, not counting any possible dark horses. If we finish 8th we're best-of-the-rest, this no longer even qualifies for Europa. We have to knock two of these down to bag top 6.

Poll: what is our realistic expectation for next season? Vote is changeable due to hopefully epic developments this summer.

Probably write off Leicester for top 6 next season ........ which makes us 6 or so but so dependent on getting the right manager PDQ so we all know which song sheet we're singing off

Bottom half. Ffs the table doesn't lie. We need to a start beating teams before we start looking up, otherwise we are no better than Liverpool with their rivalries with every team more successful than them.

Top two this season should show what happens when you combine top managers with good players. No reason we can't be in this company and put in a proper challenge for top 4. United and Liverpool have been poor in the league for 2 seasons now. There is nothing to fear if we get the right manager.

Think we will get in the top six next season, as long as we invest and bring in pellegrini, de boer or someone else who has won things in the past.

The clique are doing their thing, but the normal posts are more interesting.

Indeed. We've got a lot of work to do pre-season. The new man needs to be there from the start and the transfer work has to be outstanding. Start the first 5 games positively and I reckon top 6 is on.

Can't predict a thing until we know who our manager is, which players we are getting rid of and who we are signing. Other than that a great idea for a thread.

Top 8 but it depends who comes in and if they know the league, saying 4 is pure delusion, next season could be one of the hardest so far as there are so many decent sides settled and looking to build. We still have to settle, Martinez has done a lot of damage to Everton, we have to get back to where we were 3 years ago first.
