10/11/17 TWAIN CRUSH DAY
While most people here are generally despondant anfter seeing another season slip away into underachievement watching Sky Sports Years made me remember just how far we have come under DM.

I was trying to remember our lowest point. I think it might have been in the early 90s. I can't remember which season exactly but it was under Walter.

We were hovering around the relegation zone and had been so awful at home that we had barely scored. Why I remember it as our lowest point was that for one game - Forets at Goodison with Forest bottom - they were offering a free shirt if you bought a ticket. Even with that bribe the stadium was still only 80% full and we lost one - nil.

I remember feeling actual humiliation and was certain that was it and we were down. - we somehow scraped out of course.

Anyone got anything worse in modern times?

Our lowest was just being utter despondent sh*te for most of the 90s. I've lost count of the amount of times I'd be in the lids cars driving back up the M6 after getting our arses handed to us.

1993/94 was terrible but the last day Wimbledon thing made it ace in a weird way. Howard Kendall's third term in charge was as awful as I can remember us though.

That's the thing, we should be at the top of the table but we have a lot to thank Moyes for. It's too easy to forget how crap we were before he came. You always fancy us to grind out a result now, even if it was a disappointing draw. For the most part of the nineties you were made up if it was 0-0 away from home on 70 minutes, even though you knew you'd still get beat.

Mate, growing up I'd go the match and see us lose alllllll the time. A win was a rare treat...

Most of the time it was long treks to away games as well.

I was at Wembley that day, watching my mate play for Taunton Town in the FA Trophy final, (lost). No mobiles etc then, so reliant on a tranny radio. EFC went 2-0 down, stamped on radio. Was 2 hours later I heard the result!

BTW, anyone heard about the about the John Scales bet story surrounding that game, and why it might have helped us out???

I was sat in the Lower Gwladys by the arl Colorvision sign.

A horrible day but a boss one.

Wish I could get up more often. Probably seen more away games than home. Always visit when I am seeing family though; still feel like a kid when you approach the Old Lady. As it were.

She still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck like no where else on earth.

The only ground that can compare, IMO, is/was Highbury. Went with a Gooner pal to see us play, we took the lead, lost 3-1, but the ground had a "feel", that was similar to Goodison. Hemmed in by houses, tradition oozing from the stands, decent fans, (no problems when I jumped up when we took the lead). They dont like The Emirates. Food for thought.

My lowest point was taking my ill informed teenage son to watch the dark side play some scandanavian no marks in the 90's. Sat in anfield road stand and had to endure that sh*te song before kick off. I have never been so close to vomitting at a football ground. Was even worse than attending the 0-5 in 82, yes it was that bad!

The overall atmosphere/look on the players when they came out during the Reading game this season.

Just didn't feel good enough.

My two lowest Everton moments were

1. Going and watching us lose 3-1 to Shef Wednesday at Goodison in the 2nd to last game of the 97/98 season. ****ing Mark Pembridge even scored against us!! Started to get a sinking feeling we were going down we were so woeful and Wednesday weren't even a good team! Felt sick.

2. Getting tonked 3-0 by Boro in the FA Cup - Smith's last game as manager. Just felt like all Evertonians just said enough then. Within the next day he was gone.

oldham, fa cup. I was there, couldn't believe how poor we were.

Overall, I was more disenfranchised in the early '90s, pre- joe royle, probably even pre-mike walker.
