Our last exciting signing

Who, in your opinion, is our last exciting signing? The one that was a real statement of intent by the club that put a marker down? The one that made you really excited, and made you sit up and take note? The one that made you think we were heading in the right direction as a club?

For me, it would probably have to be Kanchelskis after we won the cup in 95. Before that, maybe Beardsley.

Lukaku was one of the best feelings for a signing in years.

It was mad, the whole forum was united even the likes of dirty @chicoazul and @Moomin we're excited if i remember rightly.

The buzz of Lukaku was superb. The plane pics, tweets, rumours, the tracking. Really good stuff.

However the last exciting signing for me was Andrei Kanchelskis. Shocking, out of nowhere, truly unique buzz that no signing since has brought. I remember within the hour of signing him, after calling my mates and talking about it, I was trying to work out how much it cost to get his name on the back of a shirt.

Kanchelskis for me.

For me, Lukaku didn't make me excited. We paid far too much for him, and he played for us the season before so for me wasn't seen as a 'new signing' as such.

Not in the same bracket as Kanchelskis for me

I like Lukaku, hopefully he'll continue to score a bucket load of goals for us. But for me, for the reasons I've already stated, his signing didn't excite me as much as the Kanchelskis one did
