We have good depth when all fit but we suffer so many injuries that it still ends up not being enough.

In fairness, Besic starting there was a direct result of the roasting Galloway got against Man City and Martinez wanting to give him some protection against Pedro.

It wasn't the most attacking choice, but it made sense. Also probably the reason that Naismith was chosen as his replacement rather than Mirallas. You're much more likely to get a defensive shift out of Naismith than you are Mirallas.

Injuries haven't been kind to us, even this early in the season, but if we can keep them to a manageable level we should be ok. We have a senior squad of 27 players this season, it's the biggest I can ever remember in my time supporting Everton.

Until we are qualifying for Europe mate it's really hard to actually have a bigger squad (with quality) - those extra 8-14 games make a massive difference in keeping players happy with the amount of games they get

My only concern would be we have depth in certain places, but no cover elsewhere e.g if Lukaku was injured who could lead the line?
Where as, Besic went off Bobby had options galore ( Naismith, Del, Mirallas, Lennon, Osman ) could have all played there, not to mention Pienaar and McGeedy - although the latter can stay away from the first team

The squad is a great mix of solid proven experienced players and exciting young players who could take us to the next level... But that said, you do need those a number of those youngsters to step up to the plate and do the business here. That is what we have been very poor at in the last decade, either letting our young players go to richer clubs or watching them stagnate and never fulfill their promise.

Said it for the past 15 months this is the best squad of my Everton supporting life (21 years) no doubt about it, easily a top 7 squad with the potential of higher.

I think it's a bit optimistic to claim that someone we bought for 4M just 2 months ago is worth 15M.

But yes, we do have a pretty good squad at the moment

I worry we are letting the 2 good performances this season get ahead of us.

Fingers crossed it is here to stay but this time last season most of the same players were part of an average squad.
