If there was one thing we should take from the abomination of the last 18 months of Brown Shoes' tenure, it's that at least he had a go at the away matches. He also seemed to have a good away record, if I recall. Should have beaten Chelsea in their down year except for the 98th minute offside equaliser, and my god that Bournemouth debacle. But he played football.

Something between that and playing 10 at the back with RonKoe, then Sam, is where we need to go

Agree with more or less all that’s been said.

But even allowing for a lack of passing quality and pace in the team, this has been an issue for years.

Moyes away record didn’t exactly pull up trees either.

You would think that even the law of averages would result in a few more wins each season, and even the odd freakish result against the top six.

Allardyce would be right to draw attention to it but he is only doing it to make excuses.

It’s something that is bad enough and gone on long enough to be discussed between board and manager, surely. The manager of the day can’t get a free pass on our away form any longer, and I feel they have done for years. Because of a lack of investment, a lack of confidence etc etc.

The problem is it has become a self fulfilling prophesy so players go out given a mindset that a point is great.

I’d like to hear someday that the manager is under pressure to do something about our away form, and to own the problem rather than inheriting it like a piece of family silver.

Negative tactics. Now I can understand trying to keep it tight against the top teams, but parking the bus against West Brom, Bournemouth etc, then that's just taking the piss.

I agree we need to be much more positive away from home, it's the only way to change our abysmal away form...

why do we struggle away from home -

Mentality. Squad is still rife with fannies who consider every away game a tough one. It's what separates the top sides from the rest, they aren't arsed that it's your stadium and pitch it's just another match they have to win in order to achieve their goals.

For us it's a massive deal and that goes right through the club. Your mentality as a club can't shift 180% because you aren't getting home comforts this week.
