They have many players signed now they just farm out to their group clubs. Palaversa, Herrera, Couto, Stevanovic, Bustos, Ilic brothers etc. Doubt we’ll ever see any play for City.
That's not why they were signed. It's accounting voodoo. Buy young players cheap, put the wages on satellites' books via loan, sell players at a profit. Notice that the satellites are all in countries where no one cares if you operate at a loss, so long as you keep the lights on and the wages paid.
Shazam! Instant FFP proceeds for the parent club.
Theyve got a Brazilian youth international right back + now highly rated Kayky.
I think theyre hoping in a years time they both come into the squad.
I'm not saying that this signing is for accounting voodoo (not passing judgment either way, never seen him). The stable of players Nym mentioned that are unlikely to crack the squad, however, were likely bought for that purpose.
What’s the difference between those players I listed and the Brazilians? They’re all “wonder kids” just different nationalities.
Truthfully I don't have a real problem with this. Letting younger players play competitve football, albeit in a lesser league, would have to imagine it gets them more "ready" than doing U18/U23 stuff. It's akin to minor leagues in baseball/hockey over in the States. Theres no real progression for a lot of these youth players in the current setups. Foden was meant to be the heir apparent to Silva for the last 3 years and barely got more than a 5 minute cameo at the end. They have many players signed now they just farm out to their group clubs.
