Player Valuation: £35m
Deserves to hold his place after setting up the 2 goals. When he does the things like he did for the second goal (not for the first time either) you have to wonder if he had been given a proper go in centre mid then he could be thought of as on the same level as Joe Cole.....

I've often thought he has good awareness in the final third, lovely set up for the goal against ManU for example. So often insignificant in games though. With a run in centre mid who knows - but who drops out, when Pienaar and Rodwell are back he won't get much of a look in.

Whatever you are on get me some! What a joke... a toe poke cross that went to a Birmingham player??? Utterly ridiculous. That is just excusing Moyes playing a usually useless player out of position when he had the choice of 2 left sided international players in Bily and Gueye. Who knows how they would have played in the match but to link Leon with Joe Cole is mind blowing.

He did well, and I could see what Moyes was trying to do using a right footer in front of Baines, rather than Bilyaletdinov, who's style of play and natural left foot negates Baines' impact from left back. He's also far more suited to the left given his attributes and style of play, the vast majority central attacking midfielders are more suited to playing on there 'weaker' side when they are deployed in wide positions. So fair play to Moyes, he did well and certainly impacted the game, and gave Baines the freedom to get forward.

You guys must be watching a different game, yes, I agree today Osman was not completely useless but he is far from being some of you guys claim he was at least as good as Joe Cole, any player in the Premier League on there day could be all so wonderful, but sorry to disappoint fellow Evertonian he is becoming more inconsistent as he gets older.

I am trying to remember when he last had a good game, the kind of performance we see when we beat Sunderland 7-1 or when he score both goals in the 2-0 away win at Fulham, as far as I can see so far this season from him was someone who get easily push off the ball, couldn't control the ball half the time, passing has been pretty awful and his shooting was nothing short of being rubbish.

The Birmingham game was his best game so far, but it is only average by his or our standard, and some of the problem I listed above was there to be seen even at the Birmingham game, so I don't know what all the fuss is about? I would play someone else in our first team over Osman any day, I would much rather have Billy starting and Gueye coming on in the last 20 mins or so.

I thought he had a decent game yesterday. What people have got to get into there think heads is that he's NOT a wide player.

He gets asked to do a job, and doesn't complain...EVER. Be gets loads of [Poor language removed] from so called 'expert' fans. When he playes in the middle, normaly he's one of our best players...

Well in ossie. True Blue!!

He's not a Right (Or Left) Winger, that's the problem!

Absolutely no problem, and I know he is no Right or Left winger but he did ok in the Birmingham game, nothing special about average by his or our standard.

Whether or not he plays in his best position, you don't get push off the ball that easy, and he get himself in those position when there is more than enough time and space for him to get his shots away, he couldn't even get shots on target, and I can't believe seeing some early post claiming Osman was so good and it wasn't the case, at least not any league game I saw this season.

1.) How did he set up the second? Arteta won the free kick, and then from there on out Baines did all the work, bar Timmy's trademark finish.

2.) A jammy toe poke which Roger Johnson foolishly tapped into his own net -- not really that impressive, let's be honest.

I do see why Moyes played him there though, over say Bily. It must have been because he'd cut inside, leaving space for Baines, and Baines had a good game.

However, he gets knocked off the ball too easily, and he doesn't thrive out wide imo. He's a great central midfielder, but we already have that area sorted, so he should be a squad player. I've heard Pienaar could be out for a while, and if that's true, then maybe Osman will keep his place on the left wing, and hopefully improve out there and do a good job.

It was like watching Messi at times, just wish Cappello was watching.
