Do not describe the pork leavings you get at the Tesco labeled "American Bacon" as American Bacon.
Benton's, Nueske's, even Wright Brand, which you can pretty much get anywhere IN AMERICA, is really good stuff and recognizable as bacon even to you lot. If you want a good example of the wispy fatty variety, go with a good Oscar Meyer's or something.
Sheesh - cook the Oscar Meyer in the oven, or in a pan on LOW until it renders and gets crispy - otherwise you'll burn it.
