They are looking at teams of four. Too small a group for me. If I was young and single again I would be happy to be part of a group of four thousand. To help build a new community, explore a new world and ensure a little piece of Kirkby would be a part of a new culture would be an interesting experiment. I take it I would still be able to listen to Radio Two and Talk Sport up there.

I think this would be pretty awesome for someone who didn't have a lot waiting for them on earth. The years of training would be grueling but you would get to live with a purpose, and when you embarked on your journey and said goodbye to earth and everything you've ever known, you would know that you'd be the first pioneer of a place no one has ever been, and that you may be helping to secure man-kind's future.

Bet they'll get millions of people volunteering, I personally would entertain the idea

Yes, just imagine it, you've been suffering from depression for years in a purposeless life and then you get selected for this. Slowly life begins to have meaning. You arrive on Mars and the depression lifts. You feel normal again and suddenly there's nothing you want more than to run outside for the first time in years and enjoy the fresh...
