I see the deer shooting as symbolic of the nation we have become. A state with an armed police force.* A state that is impatient and intolerant of nature, while at the same time using the "environment" to tax and manipulate its bovine population to its will while currying votes with the illusion that it truly cares.

*no way this would have happened before we had armed police itching to use their easy option. It would have been no more than a humorous epilogue on Thats Life or something.

A white Deer or Stag has been hugely symbolic as the spirit of the people/nation for centuries, mainly down to its rarity.
It was often seen ridden by champions of the people from Arthurian times.
The question is why Bootle? Was it heading in to give Dunc a lift home from work?

A white Deer being shot dead on the streets of Bootle is almost certainly a sign from the Gods.

Whatever you think it says about the Police State and the spirit/soul of the inhabitants of the Pool of Life, it is not a good sign.
