Don't know about you guys but i was pretty down last week because my fridge broke, but then someone i've never heard of won a competition in a sport i have no interest in and life was great again.

Just because they come from some place i've never heard of that happens to lie within the same political boundry as my hometown.

I think people should take a step back, and remember this thread is about a singer likening a celebration of sportwith one of the worst periods of modern history.

The one thing that gets me is the seasonal patriotism. Only when the media decide its worthy of bein patriotic to the flag wavers arrive.

I'm not proud of my country, I'm proud of our forces but that's about it, I'm not proud of the policies or the government, that's my beef.

Morrisey is spot on. The BBC is like Pravda over this infernal tournament. I keep finding myself told by utter soft minded bell ends that I should feel 'proud' of random sportsfolks acheivements, based upon a very tenuous concept of nationality. Er, no. 'koff.
