Singer Morrissey has slammed the coverage of the London 2012 Olympics for its "blustering jingoism" - and likened the "foul patriotism" to the Germany of the Nazis.

In a statement posted on True To You - an online Morrissey fanzine - the former frontman of The Smiths outlined his distaste for the media attention given to the royal family and the sense of British spirit.

He goes on to say that the "spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain", as a result of the Olympics coverage.

The statement reads: "I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event. Has England ever been quite so foul with patriotism?

Might be controversial opinion here, but I hate his music and now it seems I hate him.

J-Bear will negatron you all the way out of Southampton

Not his biggest fan, but I do like quite a few of his songs. He's clearly a weirdo though.

His statement suggesting that he would top himself if Beckham got a peerage is a fantastic argument for Beckham to get a peerage.

Uh oh....

Dear JDawg,

I really like you. You're ace. I just don't like Morrisey. Please don't hate me.

"England is a memory now," he says, in an interview with the NME published yesterday. "The gates are flooded and anybody can have access to England and join in."

He goes on: "Although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous. Travel to England and you have no idea where you are. It matters because the British identity is very attractive. I grew up into it and I find it very quaint and amusing. Other countries have held on to their basic identity, yet it seems to me that England was thrown away.

"You can't say, 'Everybody come into my house, sit on the bed, have what you like, do what you like.' It wouldn't work."

Stupid attention seeking whopper.

Fair enough if he doesn't feel patriotic in the slightest, but to compare it to Nazi Germany is absurd and just shows him up to be an ignorant bel end.

Oh i'd almost forgotten about that too.

Really is a tit.

That was a very carefully worded statement. I think he's struggling to come to terms with modern Britain.

So we have lost our identity because of the amount of people that have brought theirs here ?

Yeah mate we are so tolerant that we are, "Just like Nazi Germany."

This is a bloke that effed off to L.A. years ago, claims to be Irish and when the Queen made her State Visit to Ireland said this......

The boy with the Rhododendron up his arse said:
For a broad historical view of what the Queen is and how she 'rules', examine Gaddafi or Mubarak, and see if you can spot any difference."The former Smiths singer is the son of Irish Catholic immigrants and sang on the title track of the band's 1986 album The Queen is Dead: "Her very Lowness with a head in a sling/ I'm truly sorry – but it sounds like a wonderful thing."
In the article, Morrissey also wrote: "The Queen's visit to Ireland is part of a new palace PR campaign to reinvent the Windsors. The message from the Queen will be the same as ever: who we are born to is more important than what we achieve in life." The singer claimed that in the 80s, the Queen supported Margaret Thatcher by not dismissing her as prime minister as she allowed hunger strikers, including Bobby Sands, to die at the Maze prison.
"The Queen also has the power to give back the six counties to the Irish people, allowing Ireland to be a nation once again," Morrissey added. "The fact that she has not done so is fascism in full flow. What else could it be?"
