Oldham player denies allegation of racial abuse

An unnamed Oldham Athletic player has denied an allegation that he used racial language during his team's match at Sheffield United on Saturday.
The League One club has been informed that South Yorkshire Police are investigating the allegation.
A statement for the League One club said: "The player has categorically denied the allegation. The club and his team-mates are fully supportive of him.
"The club will not be making further statements in relation to this matter."

Apparently it's Lee Croft being accused, for allegedly abusing a ball boy. Sheff Utd fans reported Croft to the police. Croft denies he used racist language. He tried to apologise to the ball boy, but the ball boy wouldn't accept.

Ban him and keep banning them until they stop. 4 games is a joke. Make it 12 games minimum first charge, then double it.

I saw that on the Football League Show. The incident happened when the ballboy stood looking at the pitch not making an attempt to retrieve the ball that'd gone over the advertisement boards (SU were 2-1 up at the time). Croft walked over and said something to him that obviously wasn't nice. The ball boy was really upset going off the pitch. Who knows what he said, but the player should never have had a go at a kid like that.
