Oldest piece of our planet

stupid question I guess , wouldn't the planet all be the same age !!!?.
I think it is the oldest part of the crust. The Earth itself is slightly older but that is all in the core, which over billions of years has moved and formed the crust. This would be one of the very first parts to become part of the crust and has remained there for over 4 billion years
 


I love stories like this. Incredible stuff. On the subject of creationism, I'm never really sure why folks don't suggest that God (or AN Other creator) did a version of an evolutionary algorithm, whereby a creator produces the system, gives that system some basic rules, and then leaves it to evolve of its own accord.

That would at least fit with the whole big bang thing, ie a creator made the universe via the big bang and gave it certain natural laws, then left it to it.

Of course, I'm not sure that fits with the bible, which perhaps isn't surprising given humanities understanding of these things wasn't up to much when the bible was written.
