.....very interesting. Remember watching all of those lads. How times change, not that long ago yet many appear in standard 3-bed semi's. One even had a caravan, imagine that today. On the subject of Clemence, there was few rumours flying about the city about the reasons for his move to Spurs but probably best not reviving them now. Great keeper by the way.

Your departure from Liverpool. I've heard some crazy rumours about you from Liverpool supporters in Liverpool from several different sources that you got involved with some mobster and he scared you out of the city of Liverpool.......

This is it really, even the very best paid were still in the ordinary world. Now every 17 year old snotty nosed kid is a millionaire.......

Defo. Players lived in the same streets as the fans.
 

...and way before my time their are stories of real legends like Tommy Lawton getting a tram to the game. Imagine getting off the bus at Spellow Lane with Lukaku.
I think Dixie Dean even lived in the next road to Goodison at one point - Goodison Avenue. The remnants of it can be seen as the car park entrance at the Park End now, and if you follow the old kerb you'll see some of the old grids.
