Been three times this year, not going any more now. Was decent on Monday night, was in the Löwenbräu tent, great atmosphere.

Forget you're practically German now mate, any tents in particular I should go/avoid?
Hey mate. Yeah I live 10 mins bike ride from the Oktoberfest.

I'd say avoid the smaller tents as they're a lot more civilised and you don't really want that. My favourite ones are the Lowenbrau, Hacker-Pschorr and the Schutzen-Festzelt.

Let me know if you need any more info!

went last year. amazing. book seats in the beer halls in advance or you wont get in them without queuing for ages. you have to get in, one once inside its amazing. everyone gets absolutely hammered and singing all sorts. absolutely belting weekend. cant recommend it enough mate
You don't need to book seats really. I was with six others on Monday and we were able to waltz in and find a table without too much hassle. People are quite friendly so if you are open-minded, willing to perhaps spread your group out over two adjoining tables or whatever, you'll nearly always be fine. Apart from on the first weekend of the Oktoberfest, the so-called "Italian weekend" - that's a nightmare and should be avoided at all costs.

going to the one in cardiff next friday. was thinking of missing it to go to wales v bosnia/only spending a couple of hours there and then go to the game and come back.

based on wales' injuries think i'll just spend the night on the lash and cry into my boxers when dzeko smashes in his hat-trick goal - koff injuries

This year the prices per beer passed the 10 Euro mark for the first time ever. The sneaky B's in some of the tents they charge 10,05 Euro, knowing full well you'll give 11 and say keep the change. The girls who serve your beer, although hard-working, are making an absolute killing.

My brother worked a Pimms tent at Henley Regatta years back. No one wanted to do it so he volunteered..

Jug of Pimms for £16 left a lot of 'keep the change' offers. He got 3 times his wages in tips for 3 days!
