this will make you gulp, a "1km safety zone" 3,500 skiers happily skiing away, just 2,5km away from the crater, this is a country where when a tsunami warning went out 1/2 the population of christchurch headed to the beach at new brighton to watch it.

and the aftermath a 'Lahar' a mud avalanche, it looks like water but it's molten mud and boulders that destroy all in their path
