Was there an offside line suggested in the 80s that almost got implemented? It was about 10 yards outside the penalty box. It was suggested so that you weren't potentially offside from the halfway line. Somebody help my frazzled brain because I'm certain this nearly came to pass.

I don't doubt for one minute that it's been mentioned. I very much doubt that it was ever given serious consideration.

I have no idea. I play 7 aside in Spain and there's a an offside line in the exact place I must have imagined it from in the 80s. I'm 43 this year and started explaining to the youngsters that we used to have an offside line. I then started to realise this might not have existed and just hope nobody bothers looking it up. Must have been subbuteo. Think I'm a good contender for early onset of Alzheimers regardless.

They VAR'd it and it was overturned.

That’s the inception of football in this country, real football actually began when the big 6 came to be in 2012
