Working in Leek this weekend and felt like going to see a match, so I'm going to watch Port Vale on saturday

The first, and probaby last, time I go to watch them

I've been to Vale Park, not a bad little ground - would love to see us give them what for after that shyt we pulled back in 1996.

The occasion though was not a Port Vale match but a uni news story where I covered the Staffs FA final between Rushall Olympia and Kidsgrove Athletic.

Flamengo v Olaria in the Carioca championship in the 3 quarters empty maracana. Olaria won 3-0 i think it was and the flamengo fans tried to storm the directors box in protest. Olaria were like conference equivalent. Enjoyed that having been a comfortable enough distance away from the trouble makers to enjoy the action.

Went to Blackburn vs Cardiff, first game of the season. Went with 2 Leeds supporting mates and they were giving out inflatable zebras. Oh, and we got a picture with the premier league trophy, cause it was 20 years since the season they won it.....

Jesus the only team to win it that's not an evil gigantic international business.

Wales 3 - 5 Scotland at the Racecourse in the old Home International series. The great Jinky Jimmy was playing as were Sprake, Gilzean, Wyn Davies.

Bolton v Chelsea(Burnden Park) when the latter could've dropped to the 3rd Division, but won and then won their remaining games to stay up. Chelsea regard it as possibly the most important game they've ever played as beating Bolton meant they dropped instead, and reckon if they'd gone down they would've never recovered. Clive Walker was their hero....Faarzandz of Chelsea there and basically ran amok.

Went to a Villa v Cov game in 80's as was at an event round the corner.

Wigan v Leeds when Bremner was manager and there'd been an Away Fan ban, got stopped about a dozen times in the 5 miles to Wigan & made to show our tickets..... Sunday 10 am kick off. Still Leeds everywhere & kickin off all over.

Hereford v Hartlepool in early 80's.... havent a clue what result was but the 155 of us in the Boys Brigade Band made up a decent % of the crowd.
