What kind of "punishment" can Everton expect?

What did Liverpool get the other year for this?...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/7870286.stm

2118: Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has just been hit by a pair of socks. What the...? Meanwhile, Kris Commons hits the post for Derby against his former club.

2131: Phil Jagielka loses the ball and Xabi Alonso releases Albert Riera with a stunning pass, but Tim Howard is out quickly to smother the shot. Goodison Park is littered with socks thrown by Liverpool fans. Apparently that's in reference to a derogatory term for people from Kirkby - the location for Everton's proposed new ground.

That got forgotten about didnt it? Do you know why?

Its the RS and their "friendly" banter...and they're a pair of socks.

Brushed under the carpet.

We'll get a couple grand fine.

Oh come on, if you can't see the difference between throwing some socks on the pitch for a joke and throwing coins at players in anger with intent to hurt then you're as deluded as them.

Plenty of things to expose kopites for the dirty hypocritical idiots they are, but this isn't really one of them.

I said at the time they can easily put stuff like coins in the socks and throw them.

End of the day, you're not supposed to throw ANYTHING at the players or on the pitch.

But end of the day we are a "disgrace" and their's was just "banter"

YOUR JOKING LAD THE SOX THING WAS A PROPER LAUGH LAD HAHAHAHAHA FUNNIEST THING EVER SEEN YOU BAD WOOLS YOUR JUST BITTER EE FOUGHT OF IT FIRST AND YOUR BANNERS ARE CRAP. THE KOP IS SCOUSE. YWAN.

A plastic bottle can't hurt a player either. A coin is very unlikely to hurt a player too.

There shouldn't be a distinction - nothing should be thrown on the pitch.

If you do make distinctions, then everyone should bring a beachball to the game and absolutely bombard the place to make a point.

Seriously, think about the damage a coin to the head can do.

And were the socks thrown at players or just on to the pitch in general?

Sure, nothing should be thrown on the pitch but there IS a difference between socks thrown for a laugh at coins thrown with intent to injure.

You're not supposed to throw ANYTHING. The RS response would be their old "only socks lid" when in fact that I bet the fans that threw them did go for players (why wouldnt you if you're gonna throw something anyway) and its gonna be more easy to conceal coins or something heavy in a pair of socks and throw it.

When you add this...http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/7875254.stm You can see that the "they're only socks" is a massive sindey way of covering the fact they were throwing stuff that they werent supposed to and not totally for a "laugh"

We shouldn't be defending throwing anything on the pitch, or making any kind of excuse if for no other reason than you can't really control where something goes when it leaves your hand...even if you're trying to hit Suarez, you may end up hitting some little kid in the 2nd row.

It's absolutely juvenile. If they'd done it, we'd be rightly incensed.

But they have done it, and far worse....yet dont get "investigated"

I think that's the point of the thread, and a valid one that some are missing.

Basically, we should be warned about it, and rightly so, but a fine would be ridiculous given we have no history whatsoever of doing it and the RS have done it around twenty times in the last decade without anyone batting an eyelid.
