I rate him to be honest.
Really?! He's one of Fergie's occasional bad mistakes like De Laet, Bellion, Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson.
when I saw him play, he had a lot of skill, pace, dribbling skill, can cross. can't say I've heard anything bad about him or him pulling off howlers like a young ronaldo or nani have done in the past ....
he just dropped off the radar and there's no way him getting into that united team in the next 4 years.
and he's still young and raw, no bettet or worse than coleman to be fair. maybe not united class, but someone who could be moulded into a very tricky winger IMO
would've been a good buy for us...especially over Vic

To be fair, he's a better winger than Coleman. But that is normal, seeing as ones 'natural' position is winger, and the others is right back.
Whenever I've seen him play I thought he ran round in circles and that he was ineffective. I would have had to seriously question how much use he would have been to us even as a loan or free transfer. I'd be surprised if he plays ahead of Gutierrez, Ben Arfa or Barton.
But so did Ronaldo and Nani. Not saying he'd be on par with them, but he's got that flair.
Dont know why Fergie would get rid, he's rarely wrong, but I wonder what Neville thought of him? My United mate didnt mind him, thought he had potential. Maybe was just the wrong time for him.
I think he'll play over Gutierrez on the wing...and you dont know what's gonna happen with Barton. They do need to replace Nolan so a big of shifting around may be needed for them.
He's full of pace and tricky but he looks nothing like NaniI like Obertan too. Full of pace, tricky and reminds me of Nani.

But I think Coleman is a really effective winger for us. He was a massive threat against Villareal, very ticky...and if he keeps up that in the premiership rather than having the 1 season syndrome and being sussed out, I'd prefer him as a right winger.
Obertan has that rawness but because he's a winger already has an idea of what the role involves...They're both still learning.
£3mill is a good buy. He'll go backwards like everyone does at Newcastle though...but he would've been pretty effective for us.
