David Nugent has gone away on holiday as the Preston striker delayed making a decision over his future.

Nugent, 22, will be away for a week following talks at one club on Friday, after Sunderland and another club were given permission to negotiate with him.
Preston chairman Derek Shaw said: "Of the two clubs we gave David permission to speak to, he met one on Friday. We don't know if he met the other club.
"He's now on holiday and we're hoping to hear from his representative."

Playing devils advocate here but maybe a long shot but maybe he has only spoke to the one club because Moyes is away on holiday?

To be honest Rob, initially I didnt think we'd be one of the two clubs.

Starting to think now that we could very well be. Either that or he has gone on holiday to buy more time for us to bid?

Because lets face it, am certain he would have liked to have had his future sorted before he went away.

I am still standing by this was dealt with months ago.

*slopes off quietly* ;)

Do you think if it was Everton as well as Sunderland he would need time to think? Personally I believe he is delaying signing for anyone else (Sunderland or West Ham) because he wants Everton to come in for him. Of course we won't because we don't need him, but it would be nice.

Expect him at Sunderland.

That depends if you think I believe what I read in the papers. I have not heard Nugent actually say he wants time off to think, and I have not heard moyes say we don't need him. I am staying forever hopeful and will continue to, whilst I still have problems even believing the dates in the papers. I have faith in My club in my manager and will stay that way. Each are entitled to their own opinions.

I still believe moyes wants him. don't ask why, it is just a hunch.

also, just a quick one. where EXACTLY does it say and quote him saying "He wants time off to think about his future"??

Well they have to ham it up, the beeb is one of the better ones, christ Clubcall are still speculating that Carsley may well be on his way to Wigan because the contract offer has been delayed, even though he signed a contract.

Whichever way you look at it, if it was Everton as the other club it would have been sorted by now. As it is, reading between the lines its not Everton and Nugent is agonising over a team he probably doesn't really want to play for.

I think you are right here Ghost, I would love the lad at GP but if the boss doesn't want him then so be it. I think he is pondering over a move to the smoke to play for Golum or the Stadium of Light and play for the Devil himself

I just have the feeling that there is something going on that we are not privy to at this moment in time. Maybe smith going for 6 million may start the ball swinging into our court again with regards to nugent. Maybe Moyes was waiting for something like that, Maybe Nugent knew smith was an everton target and knew that he was going to boro, so he is holding out to see if he is our next target, maybe the tooth fairy is actually real and is sucking my knob, who knows. I am staying hopeful all the same

teeth in or out?   I thought Chico was your fairy anyway, he'll be jealous you know what he's like

Some how I doubt it. Moyes isn't daft, why should he be put to ransom by this player - maybe Moyes doesn't want him, doesn't need him, needs someone in midfield, a defender perhaps - Smith would be ideal to bridge that gap between attack and midfield. Nugent just doesn't have the experience to command a fee such as what Preston are demanding.

Infact Nugent probably priced himself out of a move to Everton by announcing he really wants to play there. Oh right, well Preston can now take the piss, and as such this is ramping up the value of a player who has no premiership experience whatsoever, and is certainly not worth 6 million quid.

He is Boro bound by all accounts, done and dusted.

I have never claimed that nugent is worth the money, if you look at some of my past posts you will see that. Also I have said that we don't actually need him. But with this being the nugent thread I am coming up with alternatives.

The thing I am staying hopeful and holding faith with is that Moyes knows what he is doing. time will tell of course, and if he eventually ends up going for Nugent then it is because that is what he believes.

LB,LM is my target for spending all our money, but how much is that value and is it going to be used too late to sign anyone worthwhile of our shirt? Time is ticking gents. (and ladies of course)
