Having a hard time getting past the carpeted stairs but looks like the bottom considering the dimension of the steps - unless they are made for Mayans, looks like Chichen Itza

In modern times? I wasn’t aware carpet was still a viable option much less for stairs

Ours are hardwood, and nowhere do we have carpet apart from rugs

Are you in England??, its rare you find uncarpeted stairs here. Even in houses with laminate flooring there is usually carpet on stairs, a lot to do with noise control as well as comfort and look.

I’m in Switzerland and I can’t recall the last time I saw carpeted stairs in a home here or in neighboring countries
