Yeah but if you think about it, the handrail would be there whether it was top or bottom!

Its at the bottom as the way its wedged in, it would fall down if at the top. Plus carpet wear.

I think its the top. It could be the home of a clean freak but the lack of any sort of detritus on the stairs makes me think they're the vertical faces of the stairs. Of course, the detritus could now just be stuck to the mattress.

Having a hard time getting past the carpeted stairs but looks like the bottom considering the dimension of the steps - unless they are made for Mayans, looks like Chichen Itza
