Simon Smith

Looking at tonights F.A. Cup scores and bearing in mind their season so far I can't see their manager lasting much longer before Delia gets her sharpest kitchen implement out and gives him the chop!

I think its a good result for them. Now they can concentrate on the league. Not a jab at their status but any cup run would be too distracting for them.

btw, did you see their final 4 games? Seriously, if they want to survive, they need 40 points before then!

I don't think this is always the case, although its repeated trotting out gives it an air of punditry all of its own.
Cast your minds back to 1995. We were having a pretty gash league season, even by our own low standards in the 90s. If memory serves me correctly, it was only an away win at Ipswich (Jigsaw 1-0?) in April that secured our PL status mathematically.

The FA Cup run was totally different though. I remember listening to Joe Jordan giving an update on our game away at Brizzle City in the 4th round, saying we'd got battered and won 1-0. "Put your money on Everton for the cup" he said, somewhat prophetically as it turned out. Matt Jackson only played in the cup matches after we signed the cup-tied Earl Barrett (Why, Joe, just Why?) and he was ace, as were the rest of the team. The only goal we conceded was a dodgy penalty in the semi-final at Elland Road when we played the media darlings Tottenham off the park. (I seriously think giving Tottenham that one massive stand for that match worked in our favour, as the atmosphere was electric for the Blues from 3 sides of the ground).

The final v Man Utd was a bit squeaky bum time, but it was always going to be. Oh, and we won!
Absolute pish in the league though.

I went to ever round in the 95 cup run and the a lot of league games. The spirit that came from the cup games overflowed into our league games and we did get lucky on a few occasions but i just can't see Norwich getting any luck and getting out of trouble.

The fans aren't happy with hughton and the way he plays, McNally is on radio Norfolk now talking about it and he doesn't seem to sure if backing him or replacing him is the best move.
Reckon they'll stick with him at this stage, he might walk first.
