North Korea has successfully launched a long-range rocket, defying international warnings.

The Unha-3 rocket, launched at 09:49 local time (00:49 GMT), appears to have followed its planned trajectory, with stages falling in expected areas.

North Korea says a satellite has been placed in orbit; the US confirmed an object had been put into space.

South Korea, the US and Japan have condemned the launch as a disguised test of long-range missile technology.

A UN resolution passed in June 2009 after North Korea's second nuclear test banned Pyongyang from ballistic missile tests.

The US called it a "highly provocative act that threatens regional security", while UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said it was a "clear violation" of the UN resolution.

Maybe they can turn their attention to Israel and put pressure on them to scrap their nuclear arsenal that threatens regional stability too.

Israel needs to defend itself from all angles and especially from The Palestinians who hide their missiles in schools and hospitals and then cry about it when innocent civilians get hurt.

And maybe North Korea feel the need to defend themselves from a South Korea sided with the most powerful nation in the world who are opposed to their political ideology.

So we leave Israel with no nuclear program, which is basically the only thing keeping them from getting blown apart, and say, "Don't worry, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was just kidding when he said he wanted to blow you off the map."

That right there should be a bit telling. Maybe he doesn't know the history of his own land.

Maybe they do.

And yeah I dont doubt The Palestinians have genuine grievances, there is wrong on both sides, but as far as I see it Israel target missiles and terrorist strongholds with regrettable collateral damage (largely due to how The Palestinians use their own innocents as human shields due to where they hide their missiles, and also as a propoganda tool when some inevitably get killed), whereas Palestine deliberatly target innocent civilians by strapping bombs to themselves and walking into town squares and buses. This is why I'll never be on board the whole support for Palestine thing we've suddenly taken.

As far as N Korea goes, they are just nuts and should be stopped.

The israels have still killed twice as many palestinian civilians as the palestinians have killed israeli citizens, though. You can argue all you like that it's unintentional but they're still dead.

You'll be looking a long long time to find a genuinally innocent military force in any conflict.

I'm not supporting the actions of the Palestinians, but I see them as the actions of a desperate, toothless people who are being "got at" from all angles - literally. If North Korea was annexing land from South Korea whilst actively stockpiling nuclear and conventional weaponry then you can be sure the Americans would intervene; but they don't with Israel.

So it's basically "one rule for one, one for another". Whilst I agree North Korea are up to no good, there's no way the west can moralise about their actions whilst the stain of the Israel/Palestine conflict continues. And with the USA unilaterally backing one side in the conflict and allowing them free military and political reign in the region, there will be no political solution to the issue.

And with Israel saying they're going to build MORE settlements... that's just sheer antagonism. That's equally as bad as North Korea sending a satellite into orbit against UN sanctions TBH.
