My words can never do justice to the emotion of it all. So instead, I'll share it as I saw it through a camera lens.

amazing....
someday i will visit that beach too.

Got shots from Omaha, Utah, and Pointe Du Hoc. As well as Brea Court Manor, Ste Mere Eglise, and the American Cemetery.
You should go. I am going back next year.

Astro, I went when I was in high school in 1984. For some reason they decided we could only spend like 30 minutes there, and I was pissed. Everyone was milling around the area at the top of the cliffs, but I said **** it, and ran down the cliffs and stood on the beach and looked up. I only had a few minutes, but I stood there and looked up and imagined having to get up those cliffs with machine gun fire raining down on you. I'll tell you that moment was one of the most emotional of my life. I have no idea how they did it. And those guys will forever be heroes to me.

I will go back one day and spend the whole day there.

Word JDawg. I completely know the feeling. The fact that a six foot tall man can stand in the naval bombardment craters at Pointe Du Hoc and look tiny just blows my mind.

we have been talking about this trip with me good mate for ages. it is like "someday we will make this trip"...someday.

Fantastic pictures them. Really want to visit Normandy, hopefully I will sometime in the future.

Astro fantastic pics mate and a place I would love to visit one day........ just because the pics showed ,, one of them aeroplanes flew really low over my head today as I was out walking.... I figured it would be landing at RAF Valley which is close by but it actually circled 3 times before landing... awesome site which I tried to record on my phone but only managed to get a pic sadly.... will try to upload it here soon.

Fantastic pictures Aviator.

I went in '04 with our squadron and I wandered round speechless. The American cemetery has to be seen to be believed. Were you there when they played the Last Post at closing time?

It is an amazing place, but without being too churlish about it, the British 2nd Army which landed at Sword, Juno and Gold beaches slightly outnumbered the American 1st Army which landed at Omaha and Utah beaches. France doesn't like to publicly admit that Britain and Canada had anything to do with the Normandy landings and indeed history seems to be getting rewritten, via Hollywood, on a continual basis underplaying our involvement. Britain, Canada and the USA put together the largest landing and changed the history of the world. It would be nice if all three were suitably recognised.....no offence intended to anyone just a personal beef......

Agreed. We were not invited to take part in the events at Gold, Sword, and Juno. I asked about it. Wanted to see Pegasus Bridge. If it hadn't been for what the British 2nd Army accomplished the whole invasion would have come apart.
