As an ereader, for pure reading, £29 is a bargain. If you already have a smartphone and tablet, no use whatsoever..

I'm buying my nan one, she reads like there is no tomorrow.

Plus decent Christmas presents.

The e-ink offers much superior contrast that causes much less eye fatigue than a tablet screen. They are far superior to tablets or smartphones for reading.

But don't the books on it cost more than paperbacks ? Would it not be cheaper and easier to just use a smartphone and possibly get it for free ?

I've got a Kobo ereader (like it a lot but it cost about £90) and the books on it are usually a pound or two cheaper than paperbacks, I've noticed. Plus you get old classics for free.

Reading books on an LCD or AMOLED display for long periods isn't nice.
