So Liverpool are scrapping the bus lanes for the next 9 months as part of a trial. Thoughts? Do you think it will make congestion better, worse or no difference at all.

How much do buses cost per journey there? With the Oyster card here, any single journey costs no more than £1.40, which no doubt contributes to the 6 million journeys made each day. Quite often in rush hour you'll struggle to even get on them they're so busy. Having bus lanes in that scenario is perfectly sensible.

Where I grew up though buses are madly expensive, so no one uses them. Having them in this however less so.

moneymaker, folk get used to being able to drive in the lane then they change it back again and hit loads with fines.

Round here they are building a 'Guided Busway' into Manchester because there isn't a rail link, it's costing an absolute feckin fortune tbh, for me an extra lane on the A580 East Lancs Rd that could be used by normal vehicles at certain times as well would be far better than this thing for specialised vehicles. Might as well build a monorail or feckin chairlift tbh

As someone who spends a fair portion of the day driving through Liverpool, I welcome this with open arms.

This.

It encourages me to jib off the bus and drive in.

If it means they lower bus fees, I'm all for it

A day pass on a bus near me is £4, I'm not sure what it is in Liverpool but I imagine it's similar

Same in Liverpool. It's £1.70 for a student single or £4 all day. Not the best.

Plus it's always like a sauna on the bus, it's horrible, I'd rather walk.

Good for car drivers

Bad for bus/taxi passengers

They were a decent idea to increase and help public transport passengers but most people would still rather drive their own car so they prob caused congestion and didn't achieve their aim.
They never really bothered me but I rarely get the bus so happy to see them go,plus I won,t be worrying in case i get a fine for driving in one of them.

No, far from it.

I do have to get from A to B to C to D and back to A again everyday, with each point of contact varying day to day.

I'm hoping to find an improvement at peak times at least.
Are you on the meals on wheels mate ? You seem to,do a lot of coming and going
