I joined the GOT yesterday. i'm 60 and started following the toffees on the day we beat Wednesday in 66. living down south and not well off visiting GP was just a dream. me dad took me to arsenal in 69 to watch the lads - lost 3-1 - but it was magical to be so close to my heroes, colin, alan and howard plus brian labone, westie and big joe. the loss to west flaming brom still rankles to this day! ive just found the programme for the arsenal game on ebay which will arrive this week. dad and me also went to an evening game at Chelsea in about 72 which we drew 2-2 (I think) that might have been a cup game. anyone remember a little magazine called the "football league review"? well, one copy of that in about 68 had a picture of Colin Harvey on the back. I cut it out and had that on my wall for years. the day alan ball went to the arsenal was a tragedy. I just couldnt understand it. why? surely not!! bally! what are you doing? I remember seeing him with his arsenal kit on - holding the cuffs of his sleeves as he always did as the whistle started the game. not quite believing my eyes. anyway, love doesn't just disappear in a second and I put it down to him having a bit of a mad moment that went too far. still love ya alan! so, ive had a bit of luck recently with redundancy money and i'm aiming to get up to GP for a game some time this season. it'll be a dream come true, win, lose or draw to be there. there's no club like everton - the thread with all those photos on this site kept me awake till 3 in the morning...totally amazing. I hope I haven't bored anyone with this long post introducing myself. but this club got under my skin when I was but 5 years old and it aint going away. there really is no club like EVERTON!!

Welcome mate. Atleast you witnessed some good days supporting the blues. Some of us who are early 30 have witnessed some dark times only.

.
this club got under my skin when I was but 5 years old and it aint going away.

Damn right @bignosey (no 'blue' in your name. . . . . Interesting)
Like you I was lucky enough to see us during the glory years.
Many on here have never witnessed that, and I take my hat off to them for their fanaticism throughout the wilderness years. I can't imagine how frustrating that is.
I retain the faith that our day WILL come again . . . . . . Hopefully you and I will still be around to marvel in it ;)
I want it for me, but more than anything I want it to happen for the generations of fans who can only imagine the ecstacy. I want them to feel that incredible clouds of euphoria that only a truly successful Everton team brings.

Welcome comrade.

A great post, and your passion for the Toffee's is clear.

No matter where you were born or live, we are family.

;)

Welcome mate.

Well done @Joey66 and all those who contribute to the old everton pictures thread - the vast majority of our visitors will never register or post an this thread goes to show the value such threads have that is often not expressed.
