Jagielka will be sold in the summer or at best make fleeting appearances from the bench next season
Williams will surely be sold in the summer
Rooney can't play every week now never mind next season
Baines is finished and surely only an option from bench next season

= Coleman our new captain from next season.

Knowing Everton like we do no doubt one of Jagielka/Williams will be a mainstay in our defence next season, Baines will be first choice left back and Rooney will remain number 10 thus forcing 45m man Sigurdsson to play left wing.

"Rooney can't play every week"- unfounded speculation. He's had no injuries this season, just a bout of flu.
He should be captain as he's the only winner we have in the squad. To remind you, he is England's and Man Utd's record goal scorer, has over 100 caps for England, won PL titles and the CL. It has to be Wayne Rooney.
Vice captain, I agree - Coleman.
Also, Gylfi Sigurdssen's best position is off the left.

Coleman - Captain
Pickford - Vice Captain
Naughty little shout that mate. But I'd go along with that. Pickford is always shouting at the useless gets who 'defend' in front of him. We need a vocal guy with some authority in the side. I'd join you in that selection.

Let's sign Pele then because he used to be ace too. Is Roberto Carlos still knocking about as well? Used to be a cracking left back and we could do with one of them.

Let's also not lose sight of the fact that a captain should act as a role model to youngsters.

Jagielka is a role model in terms of shoelace-tying. Should have him working in a nursery teaching young kids the basics of doing the loops and pulling the laces nice and tight.
Williams is a role model if you have aspirations of looking pained in the face, and pulling your shirt over your head when you get smashed yet again in a game.
Rooney, albeit still decent, sleeps with grandmothers and drink drives.

This is an area where the mentality of those at the top needs to change if we are to progress as a club. Jagielka has been a great servant but he's had the Captaincy too long, and it suggests that those involved with making key decisions are still 'too nice'. It wouldn't surprise me if Kenwright has a say in it when the manager (say Koeman) may have wanted otherwise.

We need to be more ruthless and make the best decisions for the good of the club. Obviously there are certain ways of doing it but all of the long servants who are no longer good enough to progress us should be politely told that they're now firmly backup players or are to be moved on.

Coleman for me.
