Yeah i know that.

But Goslings arm was not in an "unnatural position". He was on the ground and using his arms to support himself in the push up position.

Commentators, fans, managers and referees alike seem to think that if the ball hits a players hand its instantly hand ball and is damn infuriating. MOTD might have reckoned it was a penalty but none actually explained why other than thinking that it hit his arm so was a penalty.

Gosling attempted to get his arm out of the way as opposed to putting it in the way. Ignore who it was, that was never worthy of being penalised because it wasn't against the laws of the game.

Its just tough luck on us that it might of been going in.
I'm sure there was a modification to the law a few years back. Stating that if it denied a clear goal scoring chance, even unintentional handball is a penalty. Not sure though. wouldn't be the first time my mind plays tricks on me.

His arm was outstretched though. Clear handball and pen in my book.

Superb analysis.

Also explains why Rodwell went missing second half of the match.

Yeah, nice analysis on Rodwell's game of two halves. Obviously Pardew spotted his influence, which is why you have to ask why didn't Moyes anticipate his opposite number doing that and have Barkley on there to shake things up a bit if Rodwell was sussed out and snuffed out.

Agree with his POV of Simpson, Newcastle's RB, and his defensive frailities that needed exploiting - a point I made when the match was on. He was ok getting forward but hopeless defending. Could Coleman be any worse than him? I dont think so. Too late to experiment now though. Moyes defo next pre-season has to start Coleman at RB in friendlies.
