I think we have launched this kit because sales of the pink shirt, while good in the beginning, have been poor and kitbag are trying to make more money out of the fans. My worry is that like the purple kit from last season, we will only wear this for one or two games

Ok fair enough. But we just because we have the same colors as Chelsea doesn't mean we can't wear all white on the road or white tops and blue shorts with Chelsea wearing the opposite right? Sorry for the ignorance, but it's just not something you see over here. Teams have home and away unis and that's it. Depending on the sport it's dark tops/white tops for home and away. I was always curious about that. Thanks for the answer.

My fellow Yank, in the last 15-20 years over hear most teams in the big 4 sports and major college sports have sported a 3rd jersey. Not all, mind you, but its far from true to say that teams just have away and home, and that is it. Maybe when I was a kid (70s and 80s) but not since.

And yes, its all about the benjamins. Mo jerseys/kits, mo money.

BTW, there is not enough bandwidth on the internet to list all of the subtle differences between US and "world" sports that exist for no obvious reason.

Baseball yes, but that's mostly on Sunday getaway with a game the next day for laundry purposes. The NFL just started with this throwback stuff, but we know that's about money/marketing. Not sure about the NBA because I could care less, but I don't think so. Hockey doesn't.

I was just curious because the colors are so radically different from the team colors.

All NHL teams are required to have a third sweater. That's the main reason teams switched and went to dark colors at home and white on the road. They were having a tough time when the home team decided to wear their third and didn't want to travel with all three sets of sweaters.

As you stated, though, it's so I have to feel pressure to buy another one. That's fine when it's the Blackhawks black barberpole look, but when the NFL's Bears wear that god-awful orange one once a year for Halloween... bleh.

That said, sign me up for the ivory Everton 3rd.

I don't follow hockey anymore so I didn't know that, but it's completely unnecessary to have a third sweater. Things were just fine with home and way jerseys.

The new Everton kit is completely Ace though.

it used to be the case that we got the kits right, but screwed up transfers. No we have no money for transfers and are making a good job in screwing up the kits. I don't know who is responsible for the decisions on the kits, but whoever it is, can they please be sacked....must be one of Kenright's Luvvies...the type with limp wrists and with the ability to wrap one leg around the other.

So, we are skint, shirts are a major source of merchanise income, and we go and release something that I reckon has turned off 80% of fans, the other 20% being those who would buy it even it had ****** tassels and glitter...in fact, the way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if that happened. They should do the decent thing and have the vanilla top as the 2nd kit and get back to basics....there is enough metrosexual nonsense going on in football these days that we don't need them to be wearing pink..especially THAT pink. In my opinion, if all our players were as ugly as Hibbert, pink would not have shown its camp face at our door....
