I bought some new shoes the other day - Monday - they are absolutely killing my hooves...

Any suggestions, recommendations on softening up the leather?? They're a lovely pair of shoes but they're bloody agony at the minute.

I've heard of damp newspaper, but am pretty skeptical and haven't tried it yet.

They're a nice pair of shoes for work - and yes, they are brown - a la Bobby Martin.

Where abouts is it hurting? Heel? Or across the toes? The only thing I have found that remotely works on the heel is to have a go at them with a hammer, try and soften the leather up.

Other than that - just gotta work through the pain.

Hurting across the top of my foot. Right above the ball. The leather's really stiff and having now spent 3 full days walking around in them, they show only a slight sign of softening.

Yeah, is the leather bending and cutting into your foot like a stanley knife? I had a pair like that, but it took months to stop cutting. I won in the end though.

Best thing is the just massage the leather as best you can to try and make it crease less sharply.
